Product Recalls

Is your external Jaz power supply affected?

Only external Jaz drives purchased on or after September 1, 1998 may potentially include the recalled PSU. Some packaged external Jaz drives already include a permanent fix of the power supply, and do not need to be returned.

Important Note: Before inspecting your power supply, be sure to eject your Jaz disk if one is in the drive and unplug the power cable from the electrical outlet.

Caution: If the power supply unit is cracked or open, immediately discontinue using the power supply.

Check to see if your power supply unit is secured with a safety seal along the seam, as shown in the picture below. If your PSU has this safety seal, you do not need to return the power supply. It will function normally, and without danger. However, do not remove the seal at any time.

Check the PSU identification label and locate the serial number. As the picture shows, the serial number is found in the bottom right corner on the back of the power supply unit on a sticker attached to the PSU identification label. Only power supply units with the model number GPC14-2001 are potentially affected by the recall.

Enter your serial number in the field below to see if your power supply needs to be exchanged for a new PSU. Only enter the eight initial digits of the serial number and omit the last letter. (Example: using the sample serial number above a user would enter: 80707674.) Once you enter the number click the Submit button and we will immediately determine if your power supply unit needs to be exchanged.
