Installing IomegaWare™ Software

Installing IomegaWare software installs the drivers and tools needed on your computer to support Iomega drives. This section provides instructions for installing IomegaWare software and includes general information about Using IomegaWare Software and how to find the help files. IomegaWare software can be installed on a Mac® or Windows® PC system.

NOTE: The software that shipped with your Iomega product may be updated over time. Check for the most up-to-date Iomega software on the Support & Downloads area of www.iomega.com.

1. Start your computer and wait for the operating system to finish loading.

2. Insert the Start Here First CD, label-side up, into the CD-ROM drive on your computer.

   

   NOTE: If the CD-ROM has a spindle, make sure the CD is pushed all the way down.

3. The Start Here First CD menu should open automatically when you insert the CD. If it does not open automatically, double click the CD icon:

   Mac OS Users: You will find the CD icon on the Desktop.

   Windows PC Users: You will find the CD icon in My Computer or Windows Explorer.

4. Double click the Start icon.

5. Select your language, then select the IomegaWare icon from the Start Here First CD menu.

   

6. Select Click to Install to start the software installation, then follow the instructions on the screen.

   

7. Shut down your computer at the end of the software installation.

8. Connect your Zip drive.

Using IomegaWare Software

Use IomegaWare software to eject, format, copy, and protect Zip disks. For Windows 98/98SE/Me users, IomegaWare also includes a drive letter manager feature that makes it easy to change the drive letter assigned to the Zip drive and other removable drives on your system.

After the software is installed, you will find information on using IomegaWare software in the help files available on your system.

Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x Users
Open the Tools application and click the Help button. You can also find help manuals in the Tools folder in the IomegaWare folder in the location where you installed IomegaWare (usually the Mac hard disk).

Mac OS X version 10.1 or higher Users
IomegaWare help can be found by selecting Mac Help from the Desktop Help Menu. Click on the question mark, then select Iomega Help or:

1. Control click the Zip drive (or disk) icon on your desktop.

2. Select Iomega Help from the menu.

Windows PC Users
IomegaWare software includes complete help information in HTML format. You can access IomegaWare help by following these instructions:

1. Right click the Zip drive (or disk) icon in My Computer or Windows Explorer.

2. Select Properties.

3. Click the Iomega tab.

4. Click the Help button.
