Using PocketZip Disks
Use only genuine 40MB* PocketZip disks with your HipZip player. This section describes some of the things you can do with PocketZip disks.
*40MB where 1MB=1 million bytes. The capacity reported by your operating system may vary. The HipZip player will also use Iomega Clik! disks.
Formatting PocketZip Disks
PocketZip disks are available preformatted. You can format your PocketZip disks to quickly erase all of the files on the disk or to repair a disk that has developed bad sectors.
CAUTION! Formatting a disk erases all data on the disk. Do not format any disk that contains information you want to keep!
Formatting Instructions for Mac® OS Users
- Connect your HipZip player to your computer.
Insert the disk you want to format into your HipZip player.
Open the IomegaWare folder on your Mac® hard disk, then open the Tools folder and double click the Tools icon.
In the main Tools window, click on the icon for the disk you want to erase.
Select the Erase Disk tool.
Select DOS under Format For (you must format the disk as a PC disk).
Choose Short Erase to erase all data on a disk so you can reuse it.
Click Erase to start formatting the PocketZip disk.

Formatting Instructions for Windows® PC Users
- Connect your HipZip player to your computer.
Insert the disk you want to format into your HipZip player.
Right mouse click on the HipZip player icon in My Computer or Windows® Explorer.
Select Format from the player shortcut menu.
Choose the format type:
Use Short Format if you want to quickly erase all data on a disk so you can reuse it.
Use Long Format if you are formatting a disk if you need to repair a disk that has developed read/write errors due to bad sectors.
Use either option to change the format type from Mac® to PC.
Click Start to start formatting the PocketZip disk.

Read / Write Option in the IomegaWare Software
IomegaWare software includes a special read/write protect feature. Do not use this feature with your HipZip player and PocketZip disks. You will not be able to play your PocketZip disks if you use this feature.
