HipZip Tips

Here are a few tips you'll want to keep in mind to care for your HipZip player and PocketZip 40MB disks!*

*40MB where 1MB=1 million bytes. The capacity reported by your operating system may vary. The HipZip player will also use Iomega Clik! disks.

  • Avoid exposing the HipZip player and PocketZip disks to dust, direct sunlight, high temperature, moisture, or magnetic fields, such as from monitors and some speakers.

  • Do not drop the HipZip player. Minor bumps and jolts should not affect playback, however, any sharp impact may cause damage to the player.

  • Do not use any chemicals to clean the HipZip player. Use a soft towel to clean the surface of the player.

  • Use only the USB mini cable that came with the player when connecting your HipZip player.

CAUTION! Do not use USB extension cables with your HipZip player. Data loss may result.

  • Never apply a label over the original label on your PocketZip disk.

  • Always make sure the outside of a PocketZip disk is free of dust and debris before inserting it into the player. Use a lint-free, soft, dry cloth if you need to clean the outside of the disk.

  • Always return the PocketZip disk to its case when not in use. Do not leave the PocketZip disk partially inserted in the HipZip player.

  • Never open the shutter on the PocketZip disk or drop a PocketZip disk as this could damage the disk or cause data loss.

  • Your PocketZip disk may feel warm to the touch when ejected from the player. This is normal and does not affect proper operation or data on the disk.

  • For best results, use a ball-point pen to write on the PocketZip disk label. Use a light touch when writing on the labels. Do not write on the label with pencil—graphite could flake off inside the player.
