Installing IomegaWare Software

Installing IomegaWare software installs the drivers and tools needed on your computer to support your Iomega player/drives, including the HipZip player.

NOTE: Before installing software or using your HipZip player, read and follow the USB Guidelines to ensure reliable performance of your USB devices.


Instructions for Mac® OS Users

  1. Start your Mac® and wait for the Mac OS Desktop to finish loading.

  2. Insert the IomegaWare CD into the CD-ROM drive on your Mac®.



  3. Double click the IomegaWare install icon in the IomegaWare window.

    If you can't see the IomegaWare window, double click the CD icon on your Mac® desktop.

  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the software.

  5. Complete the online registration.

  6. Connect your HipZip player.

Instructions for Windows® PC Users

  1. Start your PC and wait for Windows® to finish loading.

    NOTE: If Windows® is already running, close all applications before proceeding.

  2. Insert the IomegaWare CD into the computer's CD-ROM drive.



  3. If the Iomega software setup program does not start automatically, follow these steps:

    1. Open My Computer or Windows® Explorer.
    2. Double click the CD drive letter (usually D:, E:, or F:).
    3. Double click Setup.

  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the software.

  5. Complete the online registration.

  6. Connect your HipZip player.

Using IomegaWare Software

You should use IomegaWare software to format your PocketZip disks.

After the software is installed, you can find information on using IomegaWare software in the help files available on your system.

Mac® OS Users

Open the Tools application program and click the Help button. You can also find help manuals inside the IomegaWare folder and inside the Iomega Application folders on the disk you selected for installation (usually the Mac® hard disk).

Windows® PC Users

For users with Windows® 95/98, or Windows Me, the IomegaWare software also includes a drive letter manager feature that makes it easy to change the drive letter assigned to your HipZip player on your system.

IomegaWare software includes complete help information in HTML format. You can access IomegaWare help by following these instructions:

  1. Right click on the HipZip player icon in My Computer or Windows® Explorer.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. Click the tab for Iomega.

  4. Click the Help button.

Installing and Using Your Audio Management Software

Iomega has provided audio management software that will help you create digital audio files from your existing CD collection, download audio files from the internet to your hard drive, organize the files into playlists, transfer the files to your HipZip player, and more.

To install Windows® Media Player 7 (Windows 98/Me/2000 Only):

CAUTION! Windows® 95 and NT® 4.0 Users: Follow the instructions for installing MusicMatch Jukebox. Windows Media Player 7 is available for Windows 98/Me/2000 only.

  1. Insert the Application and User's Manual CD into your CD-ROM drive.

  2. Select Windows® Media Player 7.

  3. Install the software.

For simple instructions on using Windows® Media Player, see Getting Started with Windows Media Player 7.

Iomega does not provide troubleshooting support for Windows® Media Player 7. We recommend visiting their website (www.windowsmedia.com) if you have questions about this software.

To install MusicMatch Jukebox:

  1. Insert the Application and User's Manual CD into your CD-ROM drive.

  2. Select MusicMatch Jukebox.

  3. Install the software.

  4. PC Users Only: Be sure to use the upgrade alphanumeric code printed on the "Getting Started with MusicMatch Jukebox" guide included with your player. This will unlock additional software features. These program features include faster CD ripping, faster CD burning, and a print function for creation of custom CD and jewel case labels.
