If you have not already installed IomegaWare software, install it now.

Connect the Zip® USB cable to the Zip drive.
Use the USB data cable that came with the Zip® drive to connect the drive to your computer. Look closely at the cable ends for correct orientation when connecting.
CAUTION! Do not use USB extension cables with your Zip 250 drive. Data loss may result.

Connect the other end of the Zip® USB cable to the USB port on your computer.
CAUTION! Windows NT® 4.0 users - To prevent system lockups or data loss, do not connect or disconnect the Zip® 250 drive when the computer is on.
Look for "USB" or the USB symbol, which usually identifies the USB connection. (See illustration.)
If you cannot locate the USB connection on your computer, refer to the documentation for your computer or USB adapter card.
For the best performance, connect the Zip® drive to a built-in USB port on the computer. USB ports usually come in pairs (sometimes four or more ports may be located together). You can use any built-in USB port. (If you are using Windows® 95 or Windows NT® 4.0, see Special Notes for Windows 95 and NT 4.0 Users.)

Connect the power supply to your Zip® drive and then plug it into an outlet.
The green light in the eject button on the front of the Zip® drive will flash momentarily and go out. If the light does not flash, refer to Troubleshooting.
CAUTION! Use only an approved Iomega Zip power supply. Other power supplies may damage your Zip drive.

Insert a Zip disk into the Zip drive.
Mac® OS Users
When you insert a Zip® disk,
a Zip disk icon will appear on your Mac®
Desktop.
Windows® PC Users
You will see the Zip 250 drive
icon in My Computer or Windows Explorer. Double click on the Zip drive
icon to access your Zip disk.
