Iomega NAS Features
The Iomega NAS is the ideal solution to increase your network storage and share files with Windows, NetWare, Mac OS, and UNIX/Linux clients. Your Iomega NAS provides the following features:
- Quick setup that generally takes less than five minutes
- Software RAID support: Non-RAID, RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 5
- Easily configurable through your Internet browser
- Support for double-byte data formats
- Support for the following network services and protocols:
- NetBEUI
- TCP/IP
- IPX
- AppleTalk
- Network Information Service (NIS)
- Ethernet (10/100/1000*Base-T)
- Disk and Directory Quotas
- Support for the following file systems
- Microsoft (SMB/CIFS)
- UNIX (NFSv2 & NFSv3)
- Novell NetWare
- AppleShare (AFP)

Iomega NAS 800m Components
Front Panel

Power Button—Use the power button to start the Iomega NAS.
CAUTION! Holding down the power button for more than 3 seconds causes the Iomega NAS server to shut down improperly. This may damage the Iomega NAS operating system or result in data loss. To power off the Iomega NAS, shut down the system using the NAS administration utility (Maintainance→Shutdown).
Indicators—The Iomega NAS has several LED indicators that display the status of the NAS. The indicators are as follows:
Power—Illuminated when the NAS is running.
Solid: Iomega NAS is running.
Flashing: Iomega NAS is busy.
Identification LED—Identifies a specific Iomega NAS (This can be turned on by the system administrator to identify a specific Iomega NAS).
Solid Yellow: Identification light.
2 Yellow Flashes, then Solid Yellow: Lights when it is safe to insert a new hard drive.
NOTE: The NAS administrator should receive an email describing the problem if email notification has been configured.
LAN 1—Illuminates to show a working LAN connection on the LAN 1 port.
LAN 2—Illuminates to show a working LAN connection on the LAN 2 port.
! Alert LED—Warning LED—Flashes if there is a problem with the NAS.
Drive Bays—The Iomega NAS 800m has eight user-serviceable drive bays. See Troubleshooting for more information on replacing hard drives.
Hard Drive Status Indicators—Each hard drive bay has two LEDs:
Green: Drive present.
Amber: Drive activity.
Rear Panel

- AC Power—The AC power connector will automatically switch to the correct voltage for your region.
Hot-Swappable Power Supply—The hot-swappable power supply can be replaced while the Iomega NAS is running.
Keyboard Connector—The keyboard connector is used for troubleshooting only.
USB 1.1 Connectors—The USB 1.1 connectors support devices such as keyboards and mice.
Display Connector—The display connector is used for troubleshooting only.
- Gigabit Ethernet Connector—The Iomega NAS ships with one Ethernet connector activated. It will automatically detect your network speed (10/100/1000Base-T).
- Ethernet Connector—The Iomega NAS 800m has up to 4 ethernet connectors. This network adapter must be enabled in the NAS administration utility before it can be used. See Advanced Configuration for information on logging onto the web-based NAS administration tool.
- Gigabit Ethernet Connector—This network adapter must be enabled in the NAS administration utility before it can be used. See Advanced Configuration for information on logging onto the web-based NAS administration tool.
- Ultra 160 SCSI Connector—The Iomega NAS 800m includes an Ultra 160 SCSI connector that support devices such as tape backup systems. See http://www.microsoft.com for a list of products compatible with the Microsoft Server Appliance Kit (SAK).

Iomega NAS 400m Components
Front Panel

Power Button—Use the power button to start the Iomega NAS.
CAUTION! Holding down the power button for more than 3 seconds causes the Iomega NAS server to shut down improperly. This may damage the Iomega NAS operating system or result in data loss. To power off the Iomega NAS, shut down the system using the NAS administration utility (Maintainance→Shutdown).
Status Indicator—Illuminated when the NAS is running.
Solid Green: Iomega NAS is running.
Flashing Green: Iomega NAS busy.
Flashing Amber: Alert. Component failure. See system log or alert email.
Drive Bays—The Iomega NAS 400m has four user-serviceable drive bays. See Troubleshooting for more information on replacing hard drives.
Hard Drive Status Indicator—Each hard drive bay has a single multi-state LED:
Solid Green: Drive present (drive healthy)
Flashing Green: Drive activity
Amber: Caution! Drive problems detected
Flashes Amber Twice then Solid Amber: All remaining hard drive status lights will blink in this fashion once the system recognizes that a drive has been removed.
Flashing Amber: Iomega NAS identification (This can be turned on by the system administrator to identify a specific Iomega NAS)
Red: Warning! Drive failure
