What is Guest and can I get Guest for my Zip® and Jaz® drive on my PC computer?
Document # 2015.html

Guest is a program used to assign a drive letter to your Iomega® drive. There are two versions of the Guest software - the Guest version used to assign a drive letter in DOS and the Guest version used to assign a drive letter in Windows®. Select the version of Guest that you need from the options below.

Guest version for DOS

The version of Guest that can be used in DOS can be downloaded from the Iomega FTP site at http://download.iomega.com/english/dosdrvr.exe

Guest version for Windows

The version of Guest that runs in Windows automatically installed the drivers needed to use your Zip® or Jaz® drive. The Windows version of Guest is no longer available for download for the following reasons:

  1. It only works in the Windows 95 and Windows 98 operating systems.

  2. The drivers installed by Guest are old drivers.

  3. Guest only worked with the following Iomega drives:

    • Zip 100MB & 250MB Parallel Port
    • Zip 100MB & 250MB SCSI (internal and external)
    • Zip 100MB & 250MB ATAPI
    • Jaz 1GB & 2GB SCSI (internal and external)
    • Jaz 1GB & 2GB Parallel Port (Jaz Traveller™ required)

Iomega has replaced the Windows version of Guest with newer drivers that are available for download. It is strongly recommended that you download and install the latest drivers.

STEP ONE - Download the latest Iomega drivers

The latest drivers, except for the Windows 98 driver, will fit on a floppy and will install in the following operating systems:

  5. Click Find.

  6. Locate the operating system you are using and click the Download Now link next to the driver.

  7. Choose the option to Save to disk.

  8. Save the software to your Windows desktop.

Note: You can also save the file to a floppy, with the exception of the Windows 98 driver file.
