What do the LED's on the Iomega® Tape 640VS and 1600LTO control panel represent?
Document # 12015.html

The Iomega® Tape 640VS and 1600LTO operator control panels utilize LED's to indicate various drive status levels. Use the following table to learn more about the LED's and what they represent.

LED Color Description
Ready/Activity Green Illuminated when power is on. Blinking whenever there is tape drive or tape drive robotics
Clean Drive Amber Illuminated when the tape drive needs to be cleaned. Indicates that 250 tape motion hours have passed since the last cleaning. The LED turns off when cleaning is successfully completed.
Media Attention Amber Illuminated if a media-related error has occurred. This condition can be due to the following
  1. A DLT tape that has been used in a DLT7000 or DLT8000 drive was inserted.

Note: The Iomega 640VS uses a VS80 DLT drive mechanism.

  2. Dirty read/write heads in the tape drive.

  3. An invalid cartridge type (DLTtapeIII cartridge or non-DLT1 cleaning cartridge) has been inserted.

The offending cartridge is indicated by a “!” in the cartridge inventory display for the corresponding slot. Exporting the indicated cartridge will clear the error condition. If these symptoms occur on multiple known good cartridges, consider cleaning the tape drive. If a particular cartridge causes these symptoms repeatedly, that cartridge may be defective or invalid.

Error Red Illuminated if an unrecoverable tape drive or autoloader error occurs. A corresponding error message appears on the LCD screen. For 640VS and 1600LTO error codes go to http://www.iomega.com/support/documents/12014.html
