What should I do if my DataSafe™ NAS device is not detected?
Document # 11142.html

Troubleshooting Network problems can be difficult because there are so many things that can potentially cause a problem. If the computer you are using does not detect the DataSafe™ NAS device, you can isolate the device with a hub and 2 CAT-5 network cables or 1 CAT-5 crossover cable between the 2 computers to help resolve the problem. Please use the following steps.

Note: The following instructions assume a basic knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol.

Equipment needed:
  1. A stand-alone computer using Microsoft® Windows® 95, Windows 98, Windows NT® or Windows 2000

  2. An Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) and CD-ROM installed

  3. One CAT-5 crossover cable or a hub and 2 CAT-5 network cables

Note: The cable provided with the DataSafe NAS device is not a CAT-5 crossover cable.

  4. DataSafe Unit

  5. DataSafe Installation and Documentation CD
