Troubleshooting an Iomega® parallel port drive not detected with Canon® BJC® 4200 and 4300 printers Document # 10353.html
Canon® BJC® 4200 and 4300 printers maintain bi-directional communications between the computer and printer. This can cause a conflict while trying to use your Iomega® parallel port drive. To use your printer with the Iomega drive while allowing your drive to be detected you must disable bi-directional communication between the computer and printer. Follow the steps below to accomplish this:
STEP ONE - Remove the communication conflict between the printer and Iomega drive
Double-click the My Computer icon.
Right-click the Canon BJC printer icon and select Properties.
Click the Details tab.
Click the Spool Settings button.
Click Print directly to the printer.
Click Disable bi-directional support for this printer.
Click OK.
Click the Port Settings button.
Make sure there is no checkmark in front of Check port state before printing.
Click OK.
Click OK.
Close the Printers dialog box.
