My Iomega® parallel port drive is not detected when a Lexmark® 5000 series printer is connected to the same parallel port

The DOS printing function of the Lexmark® 5000 series printer can interfere with detection of the Iomega® parallel port drive. The solution is to disable the DOS printing function of the printer. Follow these steps to accomplish this:

Windows® 98/95

  1. Click Start and then select Programs.

  2. Select Lexmark 5xxx series and then click the Lexmark 5000 Control Program on LPT1.

  3. Click the Options tab.

  4. Place an X in the box next to Disable CJ5xxx DOS Printing.

  5. Click the Close button.

  6. If prompted, restart the computer for changes to take effect.

  7. Click the My Computer icon and verify the Iomega drive is listed with an assigned drive letter.

    If there is an Iomega drive listed with an assigned drive letter, you are now ready to use the drive.

Windows 3.x

  1. Double-click the Program Managerand double-click the Lexmark 5xxx series icon.

  2. Double-click the Lexmark 5xxx series Control Program on LPT1.

  3. Click the Options tab.

  4. Place an X in the box next to Disable CJ5xxx DOS Printing.

  5. Click Restart Windows.

  6. Double-click the Program Manager and then double-click the Main icon.

  7. Double-click the File Manager icon and verify the Iomega drive is listed with an assigned drive letter.

    If there is an Iomega drive listed with an assigned drive letter, you are now ready to use the drive.
