Troubleshooting an Iomega® parallel port drive not detected with an Epson® Stylus 500 or 600 printer
Document # 10195.html

Important: If you are having problems detecting your parallel port drive in Windows® 98/95 and you have printer software installed (the printer need not be attached), check the version of Iomega® software you have installed. If you have a version less than IomegaWare™ 2.5, upgrading to IomegaWare 2.5 corrects most issues with parallel port software on your computer. The IomegaWare 2.5 software can be downloaded from the iomega Web site at SWD http://www.iomega.com/software/

Epson® installs a Status Monitor for use with the Epson Stylus 500 or 600 printer. The Status Monitor will not allow another device to share the parallel port correctly. Use the following instructions to disable the status monitor.

  1. Click Start, select Programs.

  2. Locate and click Epson.

  3. Click Spool Manager.

  4. Locate and remove the check from Despool Popup.

  5. Remove the check from Show Status.

  6. Close the Epson window.

  7. Restart your computer.

Note: For more information about your printer, associated drivers or software or if the Epson option is not available from the program menu contact Epson at http://www.epson.com for information on removing the status monitor.
