Troubleshooting an Iomega® parallel port drive not detected with an HP® LaserJet® 4000 printer
Document # 10181.html

Important: If you are having problems detecting your parallel port drive in Windows® 98/95 and you have printer software installed (the printer need not be attached), check the version of Iomega® software you have installed. If you have a IomegaWare™ version under 2.5, upgrading to the latest IomegaWare software will correct most issues with parallel port software on your computer. The IomegaWare software can be downloaded from the Iomega Web site at http://www.iomega.com/software/

If after installing the IomegaWare software you are still unable to access your Iomega parallel port drive, use the following instructions to disable the HPPROPTY.EXE software.

  1. Press and hold the CTRL and ALT keys and while holding them press the DEL key.

  2. Highlight HPPROPTY.EXE.

  3. Click the End Task button to temporarily disable the HP Properties.

Use the following steps to disable the HP Properties.

  1. Right-click on the My Computer icon.

  2. Select Find.

  3. Type HPPROPTY.EXE in the Named: box.

  4. Click the Find Now button.

  5. Right-click the HPPROPTY.EXE file.

  6. Select Rename.

  7. Rename the file to HPPROPTY.BAK.
