What backup software is included with the Iomega® REV™ SCSI drives?
The REV SCSI drives are bundled with 2 different software packages intended for use with desktops and servers. For desktop users, a new version of Iomega Automatic Backup Pro is included that adds system level backup to the existing IAB Pro feature set. For servers, the SCSI drives include Yosemite TapeWare® for REV Drive software. Both backup software packages support automated file backup, system imaging and restoration, data compression, and spanning of media.

What is included with the Yosemite TapeWare for REV Drive software?
Yosemite TapeWare for REV Drive software provides the same easy file and system level backup and restore capability as Iomega Automatic Backup Pro, while also supporting server level features like backing up RAID configurations, running as a service, and optional add-on modules that support open file and active database backups. This version of TapeWare includes Yosemite's "bare metal" disaster recovery module, which allows you to backup and restore full system images for a complete disaster recovery solution.

What compression can I expect when using the REV SCSI drive?
Compression is provided by using the included software, and therefore will vary depending on which software package you use. The "high" compression setting in Iomega Automatic Backup Pro provides 2.6:1 compression, which allows up to 90GB per disk; Yosemite TapeWare® for REV Drive users can expect 2:1 compression for up to 70GB of data per REV disk. Keep in mind that actual compression rates will vary and are dependent on the files being compressed.

Does the REV SCSI drive work with multiple SCSI devices?
The REV SCSI External drive includes two offset 68-pin VHDCI connectors to allow chaining of multiple SCSI devices. An offset terminator is included in the box.

Is the SCSI drive faster than the other REV drives (USB 2.0, ATAPI, FireWire)?
All the REV drives transfer data at roughly the same speed, so there is no appreciable performance difference when using one interface type over another.

Does the REV SCSI drive support 50-pin SCSI connections?
While the REV SCSI drives have been tested with 50-pin SCSI adapter cards, this configuration is not supported by Iomega and the 50-pin adapter cards are no longer supported by the card providers. We recommend you use the REV SCSI drive only with a 68-pin SCSI adapter card.

What cables do I need?
The REV SCSI Internal drive has a 68-pin internal LVD/SE SCSI connector. The external drive has an offset 68-pin VHDCI connector. You will need to provide a cable with one of these connections on the REV end, and the appropriate connector on the other end to match your SCSI adapter or device. Two types of external cables are available in our online store at www.iomega.com, or you can find many custom cable lengths and types at www.cablemakers.com. The external drive contains an offset terminator.
