ZipCD Tips

Use quality media—Use only the highest quality brand name media.

Protect your discs—Protect both sides of the CD from scratches, fingerprints, and dirt. Hold the disc along the outer edge or by the center hole. Do not leave discs in direct sunlight or in a hot or humid location.

Use a rotation plan for your backup CDs—Keep at least two CDs with your ZipCD drive and rotate them daily. Keep an additional CD in another location to protect against fire or flood and rotate this copy weekly. See the Selecting and Using CDs section of this Manual for information on the differences between CD-R and CD-RW media.

Check your files—Periodically explore your backup CDs to verify that you have archived all of the files you need to keep.

Label your discs—Label your CDs appropriately so they can be easily located. Write by hand using oil-based or permanent felt tip marker.

Clean your discs—Clean dirty discs with a soft, dry cloth and use a commercial CD cleaner.
