Document # 30094e.html
Please use the following steps to determine why your computer's CD-ROM drive does not read your recordable CD-RW or CD-R discs.
STEP ONE - Check to see if your computer's CD-ROM drive is multi-read compatible
If your computer's CD-ROM drive is not multi-read compatible, you may have one or all of the following symptoms:
- Your CD ejects after being placed in the drive.
- You receive error messages stating that the drive is not accessible or that the device is not ready.
- You receive random problems accessing your files and directories.
Please check the documentation that came with your computer to see if the CD-ROM drive is multi-read compatible.
- If the documentation states that the CD-ROM drive is multi-read compatible, please continue with the next step.
- If the documentation states that that CD-ROM drive is not multi-read compatible, the CD-ROM drive may not be able to read recordable discs. You can use your Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drive to read your recordable discs or you may want to consider upgrading the CD-ROM drive to a multi-read compatible one.
STEP TWO - Ensure that you close the recordable disc when using HotBurn®, Easy CD Creator or DirectCD
Note: You will need either a blank CD-RW or CD-R disc for the following steps. You can only close a CD-R disc when using DirectCD.
When burning a CD, you need to ensure that you close the recordable disc when using HotBurn, Easy CD Creator or Direct CD. This should make the disc readable by other CD-ROM drives. Please use the following steps.
Select the software you want to use:
HotBurn | Easy CD Creator | DirectCD
HotBurn
HotBurn will automatically close the disc once the disc is full.
When the disc is full, insert the disc into your computer's CD-ROM drive and try to access the disc.
