Why was my ZipCD™ ATAPI drive not assigned a drive letter?
Document # 30092e.html

This could be due to a hardware installation problem. Please use the following suggestion to help check for problems that may occur during installation.

  • Try a different connector or cable.

  • Ensure none of the pins on your ZipCD™ drive's data connector are bent and that the data cable is connected properly.

  • Ensure the cable connections are straight and secure.

  • Ensure your ZipCD drive is connected to an IDE channel on the computer's motherboard and that the jumper on the back of the drive is set correctly for your computer's configuration.

Warning: Before opening the case or touching the internal components of your computer, always turn off the power and disconnect the computer's power cord from the electrical outlet. To discharge personal static electricity, touch a grounded metal object such as a metal screw attached to the cover of your computer. A screw that is attached to the computer chassis is grounded. If you do not discharge personal static electricity, you risk damaging your hardware and possible loss of your data.

Caution: Removing your computer cover may void your manufacturer's warranty agreement. Before removing your computer cover, check your computer manufacturer's warranty information.
