What should I do if the Sonic™ MyDVD™ software does not detect my Iomega® DVD drive?

Please use the following steps if the Sonic™ MyDVD™ software does not detect your Iomega® DVD drive.

STEP ONE - Ensure that the operating system is detecting your DVD drive

To check to see if the DVD drive is being detected by the operating system, double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop (Windows® XP users may need to click Start to access My Computer) and verify that an icon for your DVD drive is present.

    If the operating system detects your DVD drive, please continue with the next step, STEP TWO

    If the operating system does not detect your drive, please go to New Web Page Iconhttp://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/11083e.html

STEP TWO - Reboot your computer

Your computer must be rebooted after installing the Sonic MyDVD software. If you did not reboot your computer or if you are not sure if the computer was rebooted after the software was installed, please reboot your computer at this time.

Open the Sonic MyDVD software to see if your DVD drive is detected.

    If your DVD drive is detected, you can now use the drive.

    If your DVD drive is not detected, please continue with the next step.

STEP THREE - Uninstall and reinstall the Sonic MyDVD software

Uninstall

  1. Ensure that the DVD drive is connected to the computer.

    Windows 98/Me users: Click Start, Settings, Control Panel and double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

    Windows XP/2000 users: Click Start, Control Panel and double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Select Change or Remove Programs on the left hand side of the Add/Remove Programs window.

  2. Click MyDVD and then the Add/Remove or Change/Remove button.

  3. Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen to uninstall the software.

  4. If prompted, click Yes or OK to restart the computer. If not prompted, restart the computer at this time.

  5. Continue with the next step.

Reinstall

  1. Insert the Solutions CD that came with your Iomega DVD drive into the CD-ROM drive.

  2. Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen to reinstall the software.

  3. Restart the computer.

    Open the Sonic MyDVD software to see if your DVD drive is detected.

    If the DVD drive is detected, you can now use the drive.
