Where can I play the discs I create with my Iomega® DVD drive?
Document #11742e.html

The type of device that will recognize the discs you create depends upon the type of disc used.

CD-R discs: Almost every CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive can read CD-R discs and CD-R discs that contain VCD movies. You can play CD audio CD-R discs in any home or car CD player. However, if you created a CD with MP3s, you can only play the disc on a CD player that is also an MP3 player. If you make a VCD disc, only newer home DVD players will read them.

CD-RW discs: Almost every CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive can read CD-RW discs. Most home and car CD players do not recognize CD-RW discs. If you make a VCD discs from a CD-RW discs, only newer home DVD players will read them. Iomega® recommends that you make a test disc and try it to determine which format works best with the devices you plan to use.

DVD+R and DVD-R discs: Almost every DVD-ROM drive can read DVD+R and DVD-R discs and most home DVD players can play DVD+R and DVD-R discs. Iomega recommends that you make a test disc and try it to determine which format works best with the devices you plan to use.

DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs: Almost every DVD-ROM drive can read DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs and many home DVD players can play DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs. However, DVD+R and DVD-R discs are compatible with more DVD players than DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs. Iomega recommends that you make a test disc and try it to determine which format works best with the devices you plan to use.
