You must use a formatted disc in order to drag and drop information to a disc. Please use the following steps to format the disc if it is not formatted already. If the disc is already formatted, please proceed to STEP TWO for information on how to drag and drop information to the disc.
STEP ONE - Format your disc
Note: You can only format CD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM discs. CD-R, DVD-R and DVD+R disc formatting is not supported.
- Insert a blank disc into your drive to open the HotBurn Format window.
Note: If the format window does not appear; open My Computer, right-click the drive icon where the disc is located and select Format.
- In the open text box, type a name for your disc.
Note: It may take up to 90 minutes to format your disc, depending on the speed of the burner you are using. A DVD disc will take longer to format than a CD disc. You cannot abort the format process once it begins.
- Click Start.
- Click Yes to begin formatting your disc. The HotBurn Format progress window will now appear.
- Once HotBurn is finished formatting your disc, click OK.
Note: If the format fails or if you experience problems formatting the disc, it may be caused by the quality of the disc you are using. Iomega recommends that you use high quality media when burning discs. To view a list of recommended CD-RW media brands, please go to http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/10706e.html A list of recommended DVD media brands is not yet available.
- Please continue with the next step.
STEP TWO - Drag and drop your information to the disc
- Ensure that the formatted disc is in the appropriate drive.
- Double-click the drive letter icon where the formatted disc is located to open a window for the disc.
- Browse to the location where the information you want on your CD or DVD disc is stored (you may want to use Windows® Explorer to do this).
- Select the appropriate files and drag them into the open formatted disc window.
Note: You can drag music files, pictures, text documents, folders, etc. from your computer, a CD disc or a removable device to the window.
- Continue doing this until all the files you want on the disc are present.
You can now drag and drop files to the disc until it is full. Once the disc is full, you can use it just like a Zip® or floppy disk and delete single files to free up space. The files you delete will be removed permanently and cannot be recovered.
