Please use the following steps if the Adaptec® (Roxio®) Toast® software does not detect your Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drive?
STEP ONE - Ensure that the operating system is detecting your CD-RW drive
Check to see if the CD-RW drive is being detected by the operating system. If you have already checked this, please proceed to STEP TWO
Place a disc in your drive and verify that it mounts on the desktop.
If the operating system detects your CD-RW drive, please continue with the next step, STEP TWO

STEP TWO - Boot with a limited extension set
- If your Macintosh® computer is not started, start your computer and wait for it to boot.
- Click the Apple® icon, Control Panels and Extensions Manager.
- Next to Selected Set, choose Mac X.XX OS Base (X stands for the version number) from the drop-down list.
Note: The Mac® OS base set is used to help minimize the possibility of conflicts.
- Press the Duplicate Set button.
- Type in a name for the duplicate set, such as Toast Test.
- Locate the field titles ON/OFF, Name, Size, Version and Package located above the listed extensions.
- Click the Package field, which arranges the extensions by packages.
- Scroll down the list of extensions and find the Toast CD Recording Software package.
- Ensure that the following extensions are listed and that an X is present in the ON/OFF box next to the extension.
- Toast USB Support
- Toast FireWire Support
- Toast CD Reader
Note: Toast version 4.0.1.1 or lower requires the Toast USB Iomega® Bridge extension to also be listed and enabled.
- Ensure that the Apple USB Authoring Support, FireWire Authoring Support and Disc Burner extensions are disabled and that an X is NOT present in the ON/OFF box next to the extension.
- Click the Restart button.
Open the Toast software to see if your drive is detected.
Note: Using a limited extension set may disable extensions needed to operate third-party software or hardware. To re-enable third-party software or hardware functionality, open the Extensions Manager again and choose the Default Set from the popup (usually named My Settings). Only use the Toast Test extension set when you need to use your Toast software.
If the CD-RW drive is detected, you can now use your drive.
