This error message can be caused by either outdated USB chipset drivers or by a source CD-ROM drive that is not supported by Iomega® HotBurn® or HotBurn® Pro. Please use the following steps.
STEP ONE - Update your USB chipset drivers
- If you are using Windows 98/Me: Right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
If you are using Windows 2000/XP: Right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage.
- Click the Device Manager tab or icon.
- Click the plus (+) sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Note: If Universal Serial Bus Controllers is not listed, there is a problem with the USB controller or the USB controller is not enabled in the computer's BIOS. Please contact the computer or card manufacturer for updated drivers and/or for information on how to fix or enable the USB controller.
- Scroll through the list of USB controllers and look for the name of the Universal Host Controller (i.e. Intel, Via, ALi, etc.). Please contact the manufacturer of the Universal Host Controller via the Web and download the latest chipset drivers available.
- Once you have downloaded the latest drivers, double-click the downloaded file to begin installation.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
If the error message does not recur, you can now use your software.
If the error message recurs, please continue with the next step.
STEP TWO - Download the latest version of HotBurn or HotBurn Pro
- Open the HotBurn or HotBurn Pro software.
- Click the HotBurn options button and then select Web Updates from the list.
- Once you have downloaded the latest drivers, double-click the downloaded file to begin installation.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
If the error message does not recur, you can now use your software.
If the error message recurs, please continue with the next step.
STEP THREE - The source CD-ROM may not be supported
If the error message keeps recurring, the CD-ROM drive you are using as the source drive may not be supported by HotBurn or HotBurn Pro. In this case, use the CD-RW drive as both the source and destination drive when burning CDs.
