There are several different things you should check when this error message appears. Please check the following:
- You may get error messages if you insert the wrong type of media into the drive. Be sure you use the correct type of media for your drive.
- Use high quality media. Low or poor quality media may not be detected properly by the CD-RW drive or burning software. Please go to http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/10706e.html for a list of media tested by Iomega®.
- Ensure that you are not trying to copy more information to the disc than the disc can hold. Most burning software programs will state how much free space is available on a disc when it is inserted into the drive. If you are using HotBurn or Easy CD Creator, the available space on a disc will be listed across the bottom of the software window.
- Most burning software only allows you to burn to a CD-R disc once, especially when it is an audio CD because it must be closed in order to be played on most home or car stereo systems. If you have burned any information to the disc, even if it is just one song, use another disc.
- If you are using a CD-RW disc, the burning software may not recognize the format on the disc. Try reformatting the disc.
- Ensure that you are giving the CD-RW drive enough time to spin up and recognize the disc.
- Most computers have a mix of CD-ROM and CD-RW drives, which makes it easy to place a disc in the wrong drive. Eject the CD-RW drive's CD tray to ensure the blank disc is present in the proper drive.
- Sometimes a CD-R disc that has been burned before can get accidentally placed back into a pile of blank CDs. Open the disc to ensure that it is blank.
- Try uninstalling and reinstalling the burning software.
