How do I install the Iomega® HotBurn® or HotBurn® Pro software?

Please use the following steps to install Iomega® HotBurn® or HotBurn® Pro software.

Please select the operating system you are using.

    Windows | Macintosh

Windows®

    Please select the type of install instructions you need:

      Install from CD | Install from Download

    Install from CD

    Note: If you are using an Iomega drive that came with HotBurn software and you have lost your installation CD, please contact Iomega Technical Support at http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/en_contact.html to obtain a copy of the software.

      Note: Ensure that you are logged in as Administrator if you are using a Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows NT® system.

    1. Insert the Iomega HotBurn software CD into the CD-ROM drive. The software CD should automatically open. If the software setup does not start automatically, please use the following steps:

      1. Double-click the My Computer icon.

      2. Double-click the CD-ROM drive letter where the software CD is located.

        Note: If the Welcome window does not appear and a window for the CD-ROM drive opens instead, you will need to double-click the Start.exe icon.

    2. Click the Iomega HotBurn icon and then click the green button next to 'Click to Install'.

    3. Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen to install the software.

    4. Restart the computer. Once the system restarts, open the HotBurn software.

      • If you are not prompted to perform the system test, you are now ready to use the HotBurn software.

      • If you are prompted to perform the System Test, please continue.

    5. You will now be asked to perform the System Test, which must be performed in order to use the CD Copy feature in HotBurn.

    6. Ensure that the HotBurn installation disc is in the system's CD-ROM drive (not the CD-RW drive).

    7. Click the Test button.

    8. Click Select, located in the layout window, and then select the system's CD-ROM drive from the list.

    9. Click the OK button.

    10. Click the Test button, located on the lower right-hand side of the HotBurn console.

    11. Once the System Test is done, make a note of the extraction rate information listed to use for future reference.

    12. Click the Complete button.

    Install from Download

    Note: Iomega HotBurn software can be purchased and then downloaded from the Iomega online store at http://www.iomega-europe.com/eu/en/shop/shop_en.aspx

      Note: You will need a blank CD-R disc for the following steps. Ensure that you are logged in as Administrator if you are using a Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows NT system.

    1. Download the software to the computer's desktop if it has not been downloaded already.

    2. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation. Iomega recommends that you install the default options, as this will install all of the needed features.

    3. When prompted, restart the computer.

    4. Click Start, Programs and then Iomega HotBurn.

    5. Once the software opens, you will be asked to create an original HotBurn CD-ROM disc.

      Important: Iomega highly recommend that you create the original HotBurn disc. It is used to run the system test, which must be performed in order to use the CD Copy feature in HotBurn.

    6. Click the Yes button.

    7. Click the OK button when asked to select the CD-RW drive you want to use to create the HotBurn disc.

    8. Highlight the CD-RW drive you want to use and then click OK.

    9. You will now be asked to insert a blank CD-R disc into the CD-RW drive you selected.

    10. After you have inserted the disc, click OK.

    11. Once you are done creating the HotBurn disc, click the Complete button.

      • If you are not prompted to perform the system test, you are now ready to use the HotBurn software.

      • If you are prompted to perform the System Test, please continue.

    12. You will now be asked to perform the System Test, which must be performed in order to use the CD Copy feature in HotBurn. Please remove the HotBurn disc you just created from the CD-RW drive.

      Note: If you are going to use your CD-RW drive as the only CD-ROM on your system, the system test should not be required to create CDs using the CD Copy feature in HotBurn.

    13. Please remove the HotBurn disc you just created from the CD-RW drive.

    14. Insert the HotBurn disc into your system's CD-ROM drive (not the CD-RW drive).

    15. Click the Test button.

    16. Click Select, located in the layout window, and then select the system's CD-ROM drive from the list.

    17. Click the OK button.

    18. Click the Test button, located on the lower right-hand side of the HotBurn console.

    19. Once the System Test is done, make a note of the extraction rate information listed to use for future reference.

    20. Click the Complete button.

Macintosh®

    Please select the type of install instructions you need:

      Install from CD | Install from Download

    Install from CD

    Note: If you are using an Iomega drive that came with HotBurn software and you have lost your installation CD, please contact Iomega Technical Support at http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/en_contact.html to obtain a copy of the software.

    2. Double-click the Solutions CD disc icon that appears on the desktop.

    3. Double-click the Start icon.

    4. Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen to install the software.

    5. Restart the computer. Once the system restarts, open the HotBurn software.

      • If you are not prompted to perform the system test, you are now ready to use the HotBurn software.

      • If you are prompted to perform the System Test, please continue.

    6. You will now be asked to perform the System Test, which must be performed in order to use the CD Copy feature in HotBurn.
