USB (Universal Serial Bus) is an interface designed to make it easy to connect CD/DVD burners, hard drives, keyboards, printers, digital cameras and other devices to your computer.
USB 2.0 is the latest USB technology. This technology is approximately forty times faster than the previous USB 1.1 technology, increasing the speed of the device to PC connection from 12Mbps on USB 1.1 to up to 480Mbps on USB 2.0.
If you are using a USB 2.0 device, you can only obtain the maximum transfer rate by plugging the device directly into a USB 2.0 port (may require the purchase of an add-in USB 2.0 card). You will experience a much slower transfer rate when connected to a USB 1.1 port.
USB 2.0 is backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices, so you can use the same USB 2.0 card connections for both your new USB 2.0 devices and your older USB 1.1 devices.
