Please use the following steps if the external Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD 650) USB or FireWire® drive does not mount and is not detected by a Macintosh® computer.
Important: If you have not tried any of the basic CD-RW drive not detected troubleshooting steps yet, please go to document
http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/11083e.html and follow the steps listed before using this document.

You can boot with a limited extension set to help prevent drive not detected issues. Please use the following steps.
- If your Macintosh computer is not started, start your computer and wait for it to boot.
- Click the Apple® icon, Control Panels and Extensions Manager.
- Next to Selected Set, choose Mac X.XX OS Base (X stands for the version number) from the drop-down list.
Note: The Mac® OS base set is used to help minimize the possibility of conflicts.
- Press the Duplicate Set button.
- Type in a name for the duplicate set, such as CD-RW Test.
- Click the Restart button.
- After the computer is done booting, insert a disc into the Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drive.
If the disc mounts, you can now use the drive.
Note: Using a limited extension set may disable extensions needed to operate third-party software or hardware. To re-enable third-party software or hardware functionality, open the Extensions Manager again and choose the Default Set from the popup (usually named My Settings). Only use the CD-RW Test extension set when you need to use your CD-RW drive.
Important: In order to use Iomega HotBurn, Adaptec (Roxio) Toast or the Apple iTunes or Disc Burner software with your drive, the extensions for the software must be enabled. Please go to
http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/10951e.html for information on how to create a limited extension set that includes the software you want to use. If you are using third-party CD-RW software, please contact the software manufacturer for information on which extensions need to be enabled in order to use your software.
