How do I determine if my computer is running Windows® 98 SE (Second Edition)?
Document #11283e.html

The system requirements for your Iomega® drive may state that your computer must be running Windows® 98 SE (Second Edition) instead of Windows 98 to use the device (most FireWire® and USB 2.0 cards/devices require Windows 98 SE).

Please use the following steps to determine if you are running Windows 98 SE.

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. Click the General tab.

The version of Windows 98 is listed in the upper right hand corner of the window.

Identify the version of Window 98 being used.

If the System information listed does not say "Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition" and the system requirements for your product states that you need to be running Windows 98 SE, you will need to upgrade your operating system in order to use the device.

If you have questions about Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE, please go to the Microsoft Web site at http://www.microsoft.com/ms.htm
