What do I do if my Zip® drive is not detected?

If your Iomega® Zip® drive is not detected by your operating system, this document will direct you to the correct documentation to troubleshoot your drive and operating system. This document will only troubleshoot a drive that does not have a drive letter or does not mount. STEP ONE - Are you having the following symptoms?

    The symptoms that follow may indicate that you are having a problem with your drive being detected.

    Some common symptoms are:
    • No drive letter assigned to the Zip drive in the My Computer window.

    • Disk does not mount on the Macintosh® desktop.

    • Disk does not mount in Linux®.

    • Zip drive was assigned a drive letter, but the drive letter has since then disappeared.

    • The Zip 250 FireWire drive is unsupported by Iomega in the Linux operating system.
