Please use the following steps if one of the following error messages have occurred:
- "AFL.vxd failed to load"
- "unable to initialize AFL.vxd"
- "AFL.dll failed to load"
- "unable to initialize AFL.dll"
STEP ONE - Restart your computer
These error messages can occur if your computer was not shutdown and restarted after installing the Iomega® HotBurn® or HotBurn® Pro software. Please shutdown and restart your computer to help correct this error.
If the error message does not reappear, you can now use your HotBurn software.
If the error message reappears, continue with the next step.
STEP TWO - Uninstall and reinstall the HotBurn software
Important: If you received one of the AFL.vxd error messages in Windows 2000 or Windows XP, then the error was most likely caused by an upgrade from an older operating system that had Iomega HotBurn installed. Windows 2000 and Windows XP do not use VXD files. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the software. If the error still recurs, a clean install of the operating system may be necessary.
You will need to uninstall and then reinstall the software. Please make sure that you have the HotBurn install CD (original CD or the one created during the Web download install) before you uninstall your software. Please use the following steps.
- Click Start, Settings and then Control Panel.
- Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- Click Iomega HotBurn to highlight it and then click the Add/Remove button.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to uninstall the software.
- Shutdown and restart the computer after the uninstall is complete.
- Once the computer has restarted, insert the HotBurn install CD (original CD or the one created during the Web download install) and follow the prompts to reinstall the software.
- Restart the computer once the software install has completed.
If the error message does not reappear, you can now use your HotBurn software.
If the error message reappears, continue with the next step.
STEP THREE - Download and install the latest HotBurn update
Please go to the Iomega Software Download site at
http://www.iomega.com/software/hotburn/index.html Download and install the latest HotBurn software update.
