How do I use Iomega® HotBurn® or HotBurn® Pro to create an audio CD?
Document #11088e.html

Iomega® HotBurn® or HotBurn® Pro software makes it easy to create your own custom audio CDs with your CD-RW drive. Please use the following steps to create an audio CD using HotBurn.

Note: HotBurn creates all audio CDs using Disc-At-Once (DAO) mode. This means that if you only record one audio file to the CD, the CD will be closed when the recording session is done and you will not be able to add more audio files to the CD at a later time.

HotBurn Pro users: This document contains information on how to use the basic options of HotBurn Pro. For information on how to use the HotBurn Pro Advanced options, please go to http://www.iomega.com/support/manuals/hotburnpro/main.html

  1. Place a blank CD-R disc into your CD-RW drive. The HotBurn software should Autolaunch if not already open.

Note: If the HotBurn software does not Autolaunch; click Start, Programs, Iomega HotBurn and Iomega HotBurn.

  2. Click the Music CD button.

Note: You must have supported audio files (CD audio, MP3, WMA, etc.) stored on your computer, a CD disc or on a removable device so that the files can be added to the HotBurn layout window.

  3. Click the Explore button to navigate to the location where your supported audio files (CD audio, MP3, WMA, etc.) are stored. (You can also open a window for a specific location and drag and drop the audio files directly into the CD layout window.)

Hint: If you select a group of audio files and you want to keep the files in the original order, select the first file listed and then drag them into the CD layout window.

  4. Click the audio files you want to add to your CD and click the Add button. HotBurn will automatically convert compressed audio files (MP3, WMA, etc.) into CD audio files/tracks.

Important: If you drag audio tracks directly from an audio CD to the CD layout window and they appear as small 1K files, then the CD-ROM you are copying from does not support Digital Audio Extraction (DAE). You must place the audio CD into a different CD-ROM drive (must support DAE) or your CD-RW drive if you want to drag the CD audio files to the CD layout window. Audio files cannot be dragged from an audio player, such as Windows® Media Player, to the HotBurn layout window. Audio files must be stored on the hard drive, a removable drive or a disc in order to drag or add the files to the HotBurn layout window.

  5. Continue adding audio files to the CD layout window until all the songs you want are present or until the disc is full.

Note: Click the Settings button to view the HotBurn CD creation settings. Iomega recommends that you select the 'Simulate First?' and 'Pre-copy all audio files to the hard drive first?' options if you are experiencing CD creation errors.

  6. If you want the album information to be present, click the fields next to Album and Artist to add the information. Double-click the title section for each track to add the track information.

  7. Click the Create CD button.

  8. Once the CD writing session is done, click the Complete button.

Note: If you create a CD label now, the information from the CD will automatically be exported into the CD Label Designer program. If you create a CD label later, the information cannot be exported and it will need to be typed in manually.

You have now created your own custom audio CD using HotBurn.

If you would like to save this audio project to create additional CDs in the future, click the HotBurn options button and click Save Project. Select a name for your music project and click Save.
