How do I create a compilation "best of" CD using the Toast™ software?
Document #11084e.html

Toast™ software makes it easy to create your own compilation or "best of" CDs with your Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD™) drive. Please use the following steps.

Note: Please have a blank CD-R disc and the audio CDs you want to record tracks from ready for the following steps.

  1. Double-click the icon for your hard drive.

  2. Double-click the Adaptec Toast folder.

  3. Double-click the Adaptec Toast icon.

  4. Select Audio CD for the file type.

  5. Insert the first audio CD that has the music tracks you want to record.

  6. Click the Audio button.

  7. Click Add and navigate to the location of your audio CD.

  8. Click Open.

  9. If this is the first time you selected audio tracks from a particular audio CD, a window asking you to name the CD will now open. Give the audio CD a descriptive name. For example, if the tracks you are currently selecting are from a Doors CD, type in Doors when prompted for a name. Do this for each CD you select tracks from. Repeat steps G and H to add any other CD tracks you would like from the current audio CD.

Note: If you have Internet access you can click the CDDB button, which automatically downloads the name of your audio CD and its tracks. This way you do not need to type in the names of all your CDs. This may also help during the actual recording session when Toast prompts you to insert each audio CD.

  10. Eject the audio CD.

  11. Insert the next audio CD.

  12. Repeat steps G through K above until you have added all of the songs you want to your CD layout.

  13. Click Done when the layout is finished and you are ready to record the CD. This will take you back to the default Toast window.

  14. Insert a blank CD-R disk into your CD-RW drive.

  15. Click the Write CD button. A window will now open showing you a list of every audio CD you will need during the recording session. If you don't have a blank CD-R disc inserted, you will be prompted to insert one now.

  16. Click OK.

  17. Next to Speed, select the speed you want to use.

Note: Burning your discs at a slower speed can help prevent CD creation errors.

  18. Click the Write Session button.

Note: This option will close the CD when the recording session is complete. You will not be able to add additional audio or data files to the CD, but this will make your CD compatible with most other CD players.

  19. During the recording session you will be prompted to insert each of the audio CDs you selected music from. Ensure that all of your CDs are ready.

  20. Once the recording session is complete, a message will appear stating that your disc is ready.

  21. Click the Eject button.

You have now created your own custom compilation or "best of" audio CD.
