How do I create a compilation CD using audio tracks from multiple CDs with Easy CD Creator™ version 4.02c or higher?

If you want to use audio tracks from multiple CDs to create your own custom compilation CD, the easiest and quickest way to do this is to save each of your audio tracks to your computer's hard drive.

Easy CD Creator™ version 4.02c or higher has a built-in tool that makes it easy to convert your CD audio tracks into MP3 and WAV audio files that can be saved to your computer's hard drive. Please use the following steps.

    Note: To verify what version of Easy CD Creator you have; open the Easy CD Creator application, click Help and About Easy CD Creator to view the version number.

STEP ONE - Close all open programs and applications

To help prevent CD creation errors, you should close all open programs before you burn a CD. Please use the following steps.

    Windows 95/98/Me | Windows NT/2000

Windows® 95/98/Me

  1. Press and hold down the CTRL, ALT and DEL buttons (in the order shown). This should open the Close Program window.

  2. Click a program to highlight it.

    Note: Do not select Explorer or Systray.

  3. Click End Task.

  4. Continue using steps A through C until all of the programs, except for Explorer and Systray, are closed.

  5. Continue with the next step.

Windows NT®/2000

  1. Press and hold down the CTRL, ALT and DEL buttons (in the order shown).

  2. Click the Task Manager button.

  3. Click the Applications tab.

  4. Click a program to highlight it.

  5. Click End Task.

  6. Continue using steps D and E to close all applications running on your computer.

  7. Click the Processes tab.

  8. Click a process to highlight it.

    Note: Do not select Explorer.exe or taskmgr.exe.

  9. Click End Process.

    Note: Windows 2000 will not allow certain processes to be closed.

  10. Continue using steps H and I to close all of the processes Windows 2000 allows you to close. Remember not to close Explorer.exe or taskmgr.exe.

  11. Continue with the next step.

STEP TWO - Convert your CD audio tracks

    Note: If you have another program you would like to use to convert your audio tracks into MP3 or WAV audio files, please convert your audio tracks now and then proceed to STEP THREE

  1. Insert an audio CD into your CD-RW drive.

  2. Click Start, Programs, Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD), Features and Easy CD Creator.

  3. Using the Explorer window, which is the top portion of the Easy CD Creator window, navigate to the location of your CD-RW drive and double the icon.

    Note: If you would like the title of the audio track to be present, right-click the audio track, select rename and then type in the name of the track.

  4. Click to highlight the audio track of your choice.

  5. At the top of the Easy CD Creator window, click the Extract button.

  6. Select either the MP3 or WAV file type and save the file to the location of your choice on your hard drive.

    Note: You can view more options by clicking the Advanced button.

  7. Click the Save button.

  8. The Extracting Audio Track to File window should now appear.

  9. Once the program is finished, the audio track should be converted into the file type you selected.

Continue using steps A through I above to convert all of the audio tracks you want from each of your CDs. Leave the Easy CD Creator program open for the next step.

STEP THREE - Create a CD using the converted files

  1. Click File, New CD Layout and click Audio CD.

  2. Using the Explorer window, navigate to the location where you saved the audio files.

  3. Hold down the Ctrl key and click each of the audio files you want to add to your CD.

  4. Drag the audio files into the CD Layout window, which is the bottom portion of the Easy CD Creator window. Easy CD Creator will now automatically convert the MP3 and WAV files into CD audio tracks.

    Note: All Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD™) drives are capable of writing to 700MB or 80 minute CD-R media.

  5. Place a blank CD into your Iomega CD-RW drive.

  6. Click Create CD at the top of the Easy CD Creator window.

  7. Choose the settings you desire from the CD Creation Setup window.

    Note: You can view more CD creation options by clicking the Advanced button. If you would like to keep your settings as the default settings, click Set as Default at the bottom of the CD Creation Setup window.

  8. Click OK.

  9. When the CD creation process is complete, click OK.

You have now created your own custom audio CD.
