The “Error 5. Access is denied.” or a similar Windows® system error message occurs when you are using a CD-RW drive as the backup drive with the Iomega® QuikSync software. If you eject the CD-RW disc from the drive before QuikSync 3 finishes copying files or the CD-RW disc in not in the drive when saving a file to your source folder, QuikSync 3 will relay an error message received from the operating system.
Because of the way the CD-RW drive and the operating system interact, QuikSync 3 is unable to interpret the error message and prompt you to reinsert the CD-RW disc.
Please use the following steps to correct this issue:
STEP ONE - Reinsert the CD-RW media
- Reinsert the CD-RW disc into the CD-RW drive.
- Continue copying files with the QuikSync 3 software.
STEP TWO - Turn off QuikSync 3 or choose a different backup drive
To prevent this error from recurring, you can either turn off the QuikSync 3 software or change the backup drive letter when you need to remove the CD-RW media for extended periods of time. Please use one of the methods below.
METHOD ONE - Turn off QuikSync 3
- Right-click the QuikSync 3 icon on the lower right corner of your screen.
