How do I use the Iomega® QuikSync™ 3 software to make a backup to my CD-RW drive?

Use the following instructions to use your CD-RW drive as a backup drive for the Iomega® QuikSync™ 3 software.

STEP ONE - Prepare a CD-RW disc for the backup

Note: You will need a blank CD-RW disc for backup.

  1. Insert the blank CD into your CD-RW drive.


  2. Use your CD-RW software to format a blank CD-RW disc. Note: For more information on preparing your CD-RW disc for data, please refer to the documentation that came with your CD-RW drive.

STEP TWO - Select your CD-RW drive as the backup drive in the Iomega QuikSync 3 software

  1. Click the Start button, select Programs, Iomega QuikSync 3 and then Iomega QuikSync 3.

  2. Click the General tab.


    1. Click the On button.

    2. Click the CD-RW drive icon to select that drive as the backup drive.

      1. Click the Add/Remove button.

      2. Select the folder(s) you wish to backup.

      3. Click the Add button for each folder or file.

      4. When you have selected all the folders you wish to back up, click the OK button.

    3. Click the Scheduling tab and choose one of the three scheduling options.

      • Copy my files every time I save to my source folder(s)

      • Check source folder(s) for changes every: (By time)

      • Check source folder(s) for changes every: (by day-of-the-week)

    4. Fill in the scheduling option that best suits your needs.

  3. Click the OK button to accept the settings.

The Iomega QuikSync 3 software is now prepared to backup to your CD-RW disc.
