You will receive an error message indicating there are no supported CD recorders if the Adaptec® (Roxio) software does not detect your internal Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD) ATAPI drive.
If you are using:
- Adaptec (Roxio) Easy CD Creator, you will receive the error message "There are no supported CD-Recorders available."
- Adaptec (Roxio) CD Copier Deluxe, you will receive the error message "CD Copier could not detect any supported CD-Recorders."
- Adaptec (Roxio) DirectCD, you will receive the error message "No supported CD-R/CD-RW drive."
Please use the following steps to help correct this problem.
STEP ONE - Check all connections
- Open your computer case.
Warning: Before opening the case on your computer or before touching the internal components, always turn off the power and disconnect your computer's power cord from the electrical outlet. To discharge personal static electricity, touch a grounded metal object such as a metal screw attached to the cover of your computer. A screw that is attached to your computer chassis is grounded. If you do not discharge personal static electricity, you risk damaging your hardware and possible loss of your data.
Caution: Removing your computer cover may void your manufacturer's warranty agreement. Before removing your computer cover, check your computer manufacturer's warranty information.
- Unplug the ribbon cable from the back of your drive and your computer's IDE channel.
- Check the ends of the ribbon cable to ensure that they are not damaged.
- Reconnect the ribbon cable to your drive and your computer. Check the connections to ensure that they are secure.
- Check the power supply connection to your drive to ensure that it is secure.
- Restart your computer.
- Open the Adaptec software to see if your CD-RW drive is detected.
If your CD-RW drive is detected, the problem was caused by a bad connection. You can now use your CD-RW drive.
If your CD-RW drive is not detected, continue with the next step.
STEP TWO - Uninstall the CD-RW drive software
Note: Iomega is unable to provide software downloads for the Adaptec (Roxio) software from our Web site. If you have lost your CD-RW drive's software CD, please e-mail Iomega at http://www.iomega.com/support/nav_techemail02.html to obtain a copy of the software.
