You will receive an error message indicating there are no supported CD recorders if the Adaptec® (Roxio) software does not detect your external Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD) USB or FireWire® drive.
If you are using:
- Adaptec (Roxio) Easy CD Creator, you will receive the error message "There are no supported CD-Recorders available."
- Adaptec (Roxio) CD Copier Deluxe, you will receive the error message "CD Copier could not detect any supported CD-Recorders."
- Adaptec (Roxio) DirectCD, you will receive the error message "No supported CD-R/CD-RW drive."
Please use the following steps to help correct this problem.
STEP ONE - Check all connections
- Unplug the USB or FireWire data cable from your drive and your computer.
- Check the ends of the data cable to ensure that they are not damaged.
- Reconnect the data cable to your drive and your computer. Check the connections to ensure that they are secure.
- Check the power supply connections to your drive and power outlet to ensure that they are secure.
- Restart your computer.
- Open the Adaptec software to see if your CD-RW drive is detected.
If your CD-RW drive is detected, the problem was caused by a bad connection. You can now use your CD-RW drive.
If the CD-RW drive is not detected check My Computer for the CD-RW icon. If it is there then the problem could be to do with Software Driver Database, which can be downloaded from the Roxio webpage. The drivers for Windows XP are available under the following links.
Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum: http://www.roxio.com/en/support/ecdc/ecdc_plat_534_updt.jhtml
Easy CD Creator 5 Basic:
http://www.roxio.com/en/support/ecdc/ecdc_basic_xp_updt53.jhtml.
This update will install Windows XP specific drivers and make the necessary registry entries to allow Easy CD Creator to operate correctly in Windows XP.
Note: If you have any other operating system, please check this link http://www.roxio.com/en/support/ecdc/index.jhtml for any updates
If your CD-RW drive is still not detected, continue with the next step.
