You will receive a message indicating there are no supported CD recorders if your CD recording software does not detect your Iomega® CD-RW drive.
If you are using:
- Adaptec® (Roxio) Easy CD Creator, you will receive the error message "There are no supported CD-Recorders available."
- Adaptec (Roxio) CD Copier Deluxe, you will receive the error message "CD Copier could not detect any supported CD-Recorders."
- Adaptec (Roxio) DirectCD, you will receive the error message "No supported CD-R/CD-RW drive."
Please use the following steps to help correct this error message.
STEP ONE - Check all connections
- Unplug the USB data cable from your drive and your computer.
- Check the ends of the USB data cable to ensure that they are not damaged.
- Reconnect the USB data cable to your drive and your computer. Check the connections to ensure that they are secure.
- Check the power supply connections to your drive and power outlet to ensure that they are secure.
- Restart your computer.
- Open the CD recording software to see if your Iomega CD-RW drive is detected.
- If the Iomega CD-RW drive is detected, the problem was caused by a bad connection. You can now use your Iomega CD-RW drive.
- If the Iomega CD-RW drive is not detected, continue with the next step.
STEP TWO - Uninstall the Iomega CD-Ware software
Please use the following steps to uninstall the Iomega CD-Ware software.
Note: Iomega is unable to provide software downloads for the Adaptec (Roxio) software from our Web site. If you have lost your Iomega CD-RW drive's software CD, please e-mail Iomega at http://www.iomega.com/support/nav_techemail02.html to obtain a copy of the software.
- Disconnect your Iomega CD-RW drive from your computer.
- Click Start, highlight Settings and click Control Panel.
Note: Windows® Me users, please click view all Control Panel options if the Add/Remove Programs icon is not present.
- Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
Note: Windows 2000 users, select Change or Remove Programs on the left hand side of the Add/Remove Programs window.
- Click Iomega CD-RW to highlight.
- Click the Add/Remove button.
Note: Windows 2000 users, click the Change/Remove button.
- Follow the instructions as they appear on your screen to uninstall the software.
- Once the software is uninstalled, click OK.
- Click Yes or OK to restart your computer if prompted.
STEP THREE - Reinstall the Iomega CD-Ware software
Please use the following steps to reinstall the Iomega CD-Ware software.
Note: You will be asked to restart your computer after reinstalling the Iomega CD-Ware software. Please close all open applications.
- Insert the Iomega CD-Ware software CD into your CD-ROM drive.
- If the software setup does not start automatically, please use the following steps:
- Right-click the My Computer icon.
- Click Open.
- Double-click the CD-ROM drive letter where the software is located.
Note: If the Iomega CD-RW welcome window does not appear and a window for your CD-ROM drive opens instead, you will need to double-click the Iomega_CD-RW.exe icon.
- Double-click the Iomega CD-Ware icon.
- Select Click to Install.
- Follow the instructions as they appear on your screen to reinstall the software.
- Before you restart your computer, reconnect your Iomega CD-RW drive to your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Open the CD recording software to see if your Iomega CD-RW drive is detected.
- If your Iomega CD-RW drive is detected, you can now use your drive.
