After installing the Adaptec® (Roxio™) Easy CD Creator™ software your computer may hang, not allowing you to shut it down properly. Please follow the steps below to solve this problem:

STEP ONE - Reboot your computer

Reboot your computer and allow the operating system to load as it normally would.

STEP TWO - Rename the scsi1hlp.vxd file

1. Click Start, select Find and click Files or Folders.
   
   
2. In the Named box, type scsi1hlp.vxd
   
   
3. Click the Find Now button.
   
   
4. When the search is finished, highlight the scsi1hlp.vxd filename in the lower portion of the Find window.
   
   
5. Click File on the menu bar and select Rename.
   
   
6. Type scsi1hlp.bak and press Enter.
   
   
7. Close the Find dialog box.
   
   

STEP THREE - Change the DMA setting for your CD-ROM/DVD drive

1. Right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
   
   
2. Click the Device Manager tab.
   
   
3. Double-click the CDROM icon.
   
   
4. Double-click the CDROM/DVD icon.
   
   
5. Click the Settings tab.
   
   
6. Make sure the check box next to DMA is blank. If there is a check mark, click the check box to delete it.
   
   
7. Click OK.
   
   
8. Click OK.
   
   

Your computer should now function properly.
