Use the following instructions to use your ZipCD drive as a backup drive for the Iomega® QuikSync software. The following QuikSync versions allow backup to a CD-RW drive.
- QuikSync
- QuikSync 2
- QuikSync 3
- QuikSync 3.1
- QuikSync 3.1.1
Note: Macintosh® versions of QuikSync cannot back up to CD-RW drives.
STEP ONE - Prepare the CD disc for the backup
Using your CD-RW drive with the Iomega QuikSync software and the Adaptec® DirectCD software will give you an excellent high capacity backup of your important files.
Note: You will need a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc for backup.
- Insert the blank CD into your CD-RW drive.
- If the Adaptec software does not come up automatically, use the following steps:
- Click the Start button, select Programs, Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD) and then Create CD.
- Click the Data button.
- Click the DirectCD button.
- Click the Next button.
- Select the CD-RW drive you wish to use for the backup. DirectCD will now format the blank CD you have in your drive.
- Type the name for the CD and click the Finish button to complete the format.
- Click the OK button.
STEP TWO - Prepare the Iomega QuikSync software to backup to the CD-RW drive
Use the following steps to prepare the Iomega QuikSync software for backup.
- Click the Start button, select Programs, Iomega QuikSync and then Iomega QuikSync again.
- Click the General tab.
- Click the On radial button.
- Select the Source drive.
- Click the Add/Remove button.
- Select the folder(s) or file(s) you wish to backup.
- Click the Add button.
- When you have selected all of the folder(s) or file(s) you wish to back up, click the OK button.
- Select the CD-RW drive as the destination drive.
- Click the Scheduling tab.
- Select one of the three scheduling options.
- Copy my files everytime I save to my source folder(s)
- Check source folder(s) for changes every: (By time)
- Check source folder(s) for changes every: (by day-of-the-week)
- Click the OK button
Iomega QuikSync software is now prepared to backup to your CD-R or CD-RW disc.
