This error message will occur if Easy CD Creator does not write over the CD creator files loaded by Windows Media Player 7 during installation. This usually happens when Windows Media Player 7 is installed on a system prior to the installation of Easy CD Creator. This can also happen if Easy CD Creator software is uninstalled and reinstalled when Windows Media Player 7 is on the system. Please use the following steps to help correct this error message.
STEP ONE - Uninstall the Easy CD Creator and DirectCD software
You will need to uninstall the Easy CD Creator and DirectCD software using the Add/Remove Programs application. Please use the following steps.
Note: You will need your CD-RW drive software CD to reinstall your software. If you do not have the software CD, please contact Iomega® at http://www.iomega.com/support/app/csemail/jsp/csemailform.jsp?&p_Region=EU&p_Language_Type=EN to obtain a copy of the software.
- Click Start, highlight Settings and click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
Note: Please click view all Control Panel options if the Add/Remove Programs icon is not present.
- Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
- Click one of the following files to highlight (all of these files may not be present on your system):
- Iomega CD-RW
- Iomega ZipCD Support Files
- Adaptec DirectCD
- Adaptec Easy CD Creator
- Click the Add/Remove button.
- Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen to uninstall the software.
Note: If prompted, do not restart the computer at this time.
- Continue using steps D through F above to remove all of the files listed. If none of the other files listed are present, please continue.
- Once all of the software is uninstalled, click OK.
- If prompted, click Yes or OK to restart the computer.
- Continue with the next step to reinstall the software.
STEP TWO - Delete the Adaptec directory
The entire Adaptec directory, including the shared directory, must be removed from the computer. Please use the following steps.
- Click Start, Programs and Windows Explorer.
- Click the plus (+) sign next to the icon for your hard drive.
- Click the plus (+) sign next to Program Files.
- Locate the Adaptec folder.
- Right-click the the Adaptec folder and select Delete.
- Click Yes.
- Continue with the next step.
STEP THREE - Reinstall the Easy CD Creator and DirectCD software
Note: You will need your CD-RW drive software CD for the following steps. If you do not have the software CD, please contact Iomega at http://www.iomega.com/support/app/csemail/jsp/csemailform.jsp?&p_Region=EU&p_Language_Type=EN to obtain a copy of the software.
Important: You will be asked to restart the computer after reinstalling the software. Please close all open applications.
- Insert the CD-RW software CD into the CD-ROM drive.
- If the software setup does not start automatically, please use the following steps:
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Double-click the CD-ROM drive letter where the software is located.
Note: If the Iomega CD-RW or ZipCD welcome window does not appear and a window for the CD-ROM drive opens instead, you will need to double-click the Iomega_CD-RW.exe or ZipCD.exeicon.
- Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen to reinstall the software.
Once the software installation is complete, the error message should not appear when launching the Easy CD Creator software.
