You can use your ZipCD ATAPI drive in DOS, but only as a regular CD-ROM drive. Although Iomega® did not include any DOS drivers with your ZipCD drive, the DOS drivers that are built into the Windows® 98/95/Me operating systems will detect your drive. By creating a startup disk, you will have CD-ROM support for your ZipCD drive in case of a system crash where you need to use your drive to reinstall Windows using the operating system CD. Please use the following steps to create a startup disk with CD-ROM support for your ZipCD drive.
Note: These steps will not work on a ZipCD USB drive because there is no DOS support for USB.
- Click Start, Settings and Control Panel.
- Click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click the Startup Disk tab.
- Click the Create Disk button.
Once complete, you should have a startup disk with CD-ROM support for your ZipCD ATAPI drive.
