BURN-Proof (Buffer Under RuN-Proof) technology helps prevent bad burns and CD creation errors, including buffer underrun and trackwriter errors. When the flow of data to your Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drive is interrupted long enough to empty the drive's buffer, BURN-Proof pauses the writing process to your CD-R or CD-RW disc. Because CD writing is a real-time process that must run without interruptions, the BURN-Proof feature actually turns off the laser when your CD-RW drive's buffer empties. Once the buffer fills with data again, your drive will begin to burn where the writing process stopped.
BURN-Proof is accomplished by a combination of hardware and firmware modifications within the drive control electronics, no extra software is needed. Drives that have BURN-Proof technology automatically turn on and use this BURN-Proof feature each time a CD is created.
Note: The BURN-Proof feature may slow down the burn time if the flow of data to your CD-RW drive is continually interrupted. We suggest that you follow CD creation error preventative guidelines to help prevent this from happening. For internal drives, please go to http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/10521e.html and for external drives go to http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/10884e.html for Windows® or http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/english/documents/10883e.html for Macintosh®. By doing this, the buffer should be less likely to empty and the burn time for your CDs should improve.
This feature is built into newer Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drives. The drives listed below have BURN-Proof technology:
