Easy CD Creator has a built-in tool for testing digital audio extraction. This test determines the average rate at which digital audio can be read by your CD-ROM and Iomega® CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drives. Please use the following steps to find the audio extraction rate for your CD-ROM and ZipCD drives when using Easy CD Creator version 4.02c or higher.
Note: To verify what version of Easy CD Creator you have; open the Easy CD Creator application, click Help and About Easy CD Creator to view the version number.
STEP ONE - Find the audio extraction rate for your CD-ROM and Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drives
Note: You will be prompted to insert a data or audio CD into the drive you are testing while following the steps below. Please have a CD ready with one or more files or tracks on it.
- Click Start, Programs, Iomega CD-RW (or Iomega ZipCD), Features (not required in all software versions) and Easy CD Creator.
- Click the Tools menu at the top of the Easy CD Creator window.
- Click System Tests.
- Under Devices, click the drive letter of the CD-ROM or Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drive you want to test.
- Click Audio Extraction Test.
- Click Test to perform the system test.
Note: The System Test progress screen will now appear.
- Once complete, the test results should appear next to Audio Extraction Speed under the Audio Extraction Test section.
- When you are finished viewing the test results, click Close.
- Continue with the next step.
Note: Easy CD Creator will save the system test results for future reference. To view the test results, click Tools and System Tests.
STEP TWO - Compare the audio extraction rates
Compare the audio extraction rate of the Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drive to the audio extraction rate of the CD-ROM drive you are using as the source drive.
If the digital audio rate varies only a little or not at all, you should be able to use your CD-ROM and ZipCD drives together to create your audio CDs.
If the digital audio rate varies in speed, you may experience buffer underruns. If you do experience buffer underruns you may want to use your ZipCD drive as both the source and destination drive, burn at a slower speed that is less than or equal to the source drive's audio extraction rate or create a disc image before burning your CDs.
Note: All current Iomega CD-RW (ZipCD 650) drive customers can purchase Iomega HotBurn® software at a discounted price. Iomega HotBurn has support for the latest Windows® operating systems and Iomega HotBurn's user-friendly interface makes burning CDs easier and faster than ever.
