When you play an audio CD with your ZipCD drive, you will experience no sound output if there is a problem with the audio cable connection. If the audio cable is not connected or if the connection is not secure, your ZipCD drive will show disk activity and your computer's audio software may indicate that the CD is playing, even though there is no sound. Please use the following steps to help correct this issue.
- If you are using an external ZipCD USB drive, the audio cable needs to be plugged into the Line In or Microphone jack. If you are using an internal ZipCD Atapi drive, verify that the audio cable is attached to both your drive and your sound card.
Note: If you have an internal ZipCD drive and the original CD-ROM drive is still installed on your computer, ensure that the audio cable for your ZipCD drive is connected to your sound card.
- Verify that all audio cable connections are secure.
- Ensure that the Line In and Microphone options do not have the Volume turned completely down and that a check mark is not present next to Mute. To find the Line In and Microphone options, right-click the Volume icon in the Windows® taskbar and click Open Volume Controls. An illustration of the Volume icon is shown below.

Note: If the Line In and Microphone options are not present, please use the following steps.
- From the Volume Controls window, click Options and then Properties.
- Under the 'Show the following volume controls' section, place a check mark next to the Line In and Mic options.
- Click OK.
