What is a CD-RW disc?
Document # 10296e.html

CD-RW Discs

CD-RW discs allow you to erase data and rewrite new information to the disc. They are ideal to back up and share files with colleagues and transport files between computers. CD-RW discs allow you to make a practice CD or test the contents of a CD before making a permanent one.

You can use CD-RW discs to:

  • Transport large data files between computers

  • Archive data

  • Store large data files while you work on them

  • Update important files each week

  • Back up a hard drive

Note: Only CD-RW drives can read and write data to CD-RW discs. Multi-read CD-ROM drives can read (but not write to) CD-RW discs.
