If your Iomega® disk asks for a password when you try to write to it, you will need to either supply the correct password to unlock the disk or long format the disk. Select one of the following options:
My disk is brand new but it asks for a password | I forgot the password for my disk
My disk is brand new but it asks for a password
A limited number of Iomega disks were shipped with a password. If your brand new disk asks for a password use the following instructions to remove the protection.
Use the following steps to remove the write protection from the disk.
Your disk is now unprotected.
I forgot the password for my disk
If you have forgotten the password for your disk, the data cannot be recovered. To remove protection from the disk you must long format the disk. Long formatting the disk will erase all data on the disk.
A long format can take up to twenty minutes to complete. Once the format is complete, you should be able to write to the disk.
