How do I manually eject a disk from my internal Zip® drive?
Document # 10332.html

Please locate the appropriate Zip® drive listed below and follow the steps to manually eject a disk from your drive.

Note: You may need to open your computer's case to locate the manual eject hole and eject your disk.

Warning: Before opening the case on your computer or before touching the internal components, always turn off the power and disconnect your computer's power cord from the electrical outlet. To discharge personal static electricity, touch a grounded metal object such as a metal screw attached to the cover of your computer. A screw that is attached to your computer chassis is grounded. If you do not discharge personal static electricity, you risk damaging your hardware and possible loss of your data.

Caution: Removing your computer cover may void your manufacturer's warranty agreement. Before removing your computer cover, check your computer manufacturer's warranty information.

Zip IDE, Zip SCSI and Zip ATAPI drives

Depending on the model and year your drive was manufactured, the manual eject hole may be located on either the front or back of your drive.

Caution: Never remove a disk manually while your Zip drive is on.

    1. Ensure your computer is off and unplug your computer's power cord from the electrical outlet.

    2. Locate the manual eject hole, which may be found on either the front or back of your drive as shown in the images below.

      1. If the manual eject hole is located on the front of your drive, use a paper clip to hook the manual eject lever and gently pull until the disk ejects. Ensure that the manual eject lever is returned to its original position before inserting another disk. If necessary, push it back into place with the paper clip.

Note: If the disk does not eject immediately, repeat the manual eject procedure until the disk is released.

      2. If the manual eject hole is located on the back of your drive, insert a straightened paper clip into the manual eject hole and press gently to release the disk.

Note: If the disk does not eject immediately, repeat the manual eject procedure until the disk is released.
