Iomega® desktop icons are an added feature of the IomegaWare software. The desktop icons are loaded during startup by the REFRESH.EXE program located in the Startup folder. To remove or disable the Iomega desktop icons, use the following steps:
STEP ONE - Remove the Iomega icons from the desktop
- Click Start.
- Point to Programs and select IomegaWare.
- Click Remove Drive Shortcuts.
Is the problem fixed?
Y If the Iomega desktop icons do not reappear on the desktop, the problem is resolved.
N If the Iomega desktop icons reappear, please go to the next step.
STEP TWO - Disable the desktop icons by removing REFRESH.EXE from the startup folder
Click Start, point to Settings, and select Task Bar & Start Menu.
Select the Start Menu Programs tab.
Click the Advanced button.
Click the Programs Folder.
Scroll down and locate the Startup folder.
Click the Startup folder to open the folder.
Highlight REFRESH.EXE, then press the Delete key.
Confirm the delete function by clicking the Yes button.
Restart your computer for changes to take effect.
Is the problem fixed?
Y If the Iomega desktop icons do not reappear on the desktop the problem is resolved.
