How do I use 1-Step™ Restore for my Zip® or Jaz® drive to restore a hard drive in Windows® 98/95 or Windows NT®?
Document # 10106.html

1-Step™ Restore allows you to restore your data from your Zip® or Jaz® drive to your hard drive in Windows® 98/95 or Windows NT®. Because 1-Step restore works with the operating system, your operating system must be reinstalled before you can use 1-Step Restore.

1-Step Backup will not backup files from one computer and restore those files on another computer or operating system. If you backup files in Windows 95, you must restore those files in Windows 95.

Once the operating system and Iomega® software have been reinstalled, run 1-Step Restore by following these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, IomegaWare and select 1-Step Restore for Zip & Jaz.

  2. Click Continue.

  3. Choose one of two options:

    1. Customize. Allows you to select specific files or folders to restore. Use this option when you want to restore one or more files or folders.

    2. Restore now. Performs a complete restoration of the backup.

When the restore process is complete, 1-Step Restore will generate a report of the files it was unable to restore. This will include some of the operating system files and Iomega backup files that cannot be restored because they are in use. Since your customized settings are contained in the operating system registry files, the 1-Step applications will not backup or restore these files. Your programs will retain their default settings.
